Responsibility Of The Woman To Her Husband In The Home. Shaykh Taamir Fatooh.

Question:  Is it obligatory upon the woman to be in the service of her husband in the house; such as cooking and cleaning?

Answer:  There are differing opinions in regards to this affair.  Some of the Fuqahaa’ (Scholars of Fiqh) say, that the woman is not obligated to service her husband in these affairs; such as cooking and cleaning.  This is the opinion of some of the Fuqahaa’ and Allah knows best.

But if we return to the Hadeeth of our Prophet Muhammad (Allah’s peace and blessings upon him) he says, “Every woman is Raa’iyyah (a shepherdess/caretaker) in her husband’s home and is responsible for her flock(those and that under her responsibility)…”

Therefore, the woman takes the responsibility of what is within her husband’s home upon her neck.  She takes upon her neck the responsibility of what must be maintained within her husband’s home and cooking and cleaning fall under this responsibility.

But once again, this is an affair in which our Fuqahaa’ differ.  May Allah bless and reward you all.

Khutbah Reminder From Shaykh Taamir Fatooh

As Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh.

This a reminder taken from today’s khutbah by Shaykh Taamir Fatooh (May Allah, The Most High preserve him upon good).

The Shaykh said, Everyone of us will die.  Everyone of us will cease to exist.  Everyone of us will pass away.  We know this without a doubt.  We read this in the Book of Allah and in many narrations from our Prophet Muhammad (Allah’s peace and blessings upon him).  We all will day.  This is something that is known.  Everything will come to an end and return to Allah.  Everything will pass and return to Allah.

The Shaykh continued by saying, Since we know this, than what are we doing?  How are we living our lives?  Are we living a noble life based upon good?  Or are we living a life based upon what we can obtain from this Dunyaa (the life of this world)?  No doubt, we must take from this Dunyaa what is necessary for us; for our living.  The Dunyaa is to be grasped within the hand, not in the heart.  The Dunyaa is to be held within the hand, not in the heart.  Take from it what is needed; what is necessary but do not hold it within your heart.

We must busy ourselves in preparation for our graves.  We must learn, while living in this Dunyaa that which will aid us in our graves.  Who is your Lord?  What is your Deen (Religion)?  Who is your Lord and what is your Deen?  We will be asked this; all of us will be asked these questions.

We must know the meaning of Laa Ilaaha Ill Allah.  We must know the meaning of Laa Ilaaha Ill Allah.  Many of the Muslims do not know the meaning of Laa Ilaaha Ill Allah.  Many do not know that Laa Ilaaha Ill Allah means, Laa Ma’booda bihaqqin siwaa Allah (None is worthy of worship in truth except Allah).  Many do not know this meaning.

Translator’s note:  In the grave we will be asked three questions.  Who is your Lord?  Who is your Prophet?  What is your Religion?  These are the three question for which we must prepare ourselves to be asked.  In shaa Allah and Allahu A’lam.
