Advice from Shaykh Hasan Abdil-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa, may Allah preserve him.

Yesterday waalidunaa (our father), shaykhunaa (our shaykh) Hasan Abdil-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa, hafidhahullahu ta’aalaa, reminded us in his khutbah; that in Ad-Dunyaa (this temporary present life) we must prepare ourselves for Al-Aakhirah (the next and eternal life). Shaykhunaa said, we must live in this world in constant preparation for what is coming next. He said, we are living a life of play and enjoyment, ease and relaxation. A life or eating and sleeping. A life of neglect and negligence. Shaykhunaa said, that our books will be given to us when we stand in front of Rabbunaa (our Lord), Allah. He who is given his book (of deeds) in his right hand will enter into Al-Jannah and he who is given his book (of deeds) in his left hand will enter into Al-Jahannam. He will have no excuse because all that he did and said will be in front of him in his book, as either a proof and witness for him or against him.

Shaykhunaa, hafidhahullahu ta’aalaa, then went on to say that. We must establish the learning and implementation of At-Tawheed upon the correct Manhaj. We must know who our Lord is and why we must worship Him and Him alone. We must know and understand At-Tawheed. We must be sincere in our devotion to Allah. We must be firm in our obedience to His commands and orders. This is just some of what he advised us with during his khutbah.

After while we walked Ash-Shaykh to his car. He said to me, At-Tawheed is your life. At-Tawheed is everything to you. At-Tawheed is your living and your dying. You must give everything you have in learning, understanding and calling to At-Tawheed. He said that, your brothers in America must be sincere in their calling the people to Allah, and to His religion. You and your brothers must work together in obedience to Allah and to His Sunnah. Ad-Da’wah is not with one person or group. Ad-Da’wah is for all. You must be sincere and fear Allah. You must work together for Allah. Work together in good and in obedience to Allah. You must advise one another with sincere advice, and there is no cooperation in sins and disobedience. Establish At-Tawheed first. Know Who your Lord is and be sincere to Him.

May Allah bless and reward our 87 year old father, our shaykh with good in both lives and may He safeguard us and him from the flames of Al-Jahannam, for his continued efforts in educating and calling us to that which will benefit us in both lives.
