Don’t Spit In Front Of You During Prayer

The Prophet (peace be upon him) says, “When any one of you prays, he must not spit in front of him, for Allah is in front of him when he is engaged in prayer. But he should do so on his left or down his feet.”  [agreed upon]

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen comments, ” This hadith has decisive proof that Allah is in the front of the person who prays. As for spitting to one’s right side,  it’s not preferable because an angel is reported to be on one’s right side; this leaves out the left side or under the feet.

We can extract from this hadith that Allah is in front of the person who prays; however, we must know that Who said so is the same One who declared Himself to be in the heavens. There is no contradiction as we can reconcile between these two texts from three aspects:

1- The Islamic law contains both reports and it’s impossible for it to contain any contradictions.

2- Logically, a thing could be up in the sky while being right in front of you simultaneously; consider the sun which lies in front of you but higher than you. Therefore, since such fact is applicable for created objects, it’s obviously and undoubtedly applicable for the Creator Himself.

3- Even if we suppose this is not applicable for created objects, it wouldn’t be the same case for Allah; who there is nothing similar or comparable to Him.”

WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF GRATITUDE TO ALLAH AND HOW TO DISPLAY IT?

Imam ibn al-Qayyim explains the meaning of gratitude to Allah and how to display it:

Definitions of gratitude to Allah:

1-      To admit Allah’s bounties upon you out of submission.

2-      To praise Allah by pointing out His bounties.

3-      Devotion of the heart to loving Allah, devotion of the body to worship him, remembering and praising Him with tongue.

4-      A nice definition is given by Hamdoon al-Qassar: showing gratitude to Allah is achieved by believing that the person doesn’t deserve these bounties.

5-      Showing gratitude is to admit your inability of showing gratitude.

How to display your gratitude to Allah:

1-      To submit to Allah.

2-      To love Allah.

3-      To admit His bounties.

4-      To praise Him with these bounties.

5-      To function these bounties in what pleases Allah not in what displeases Him.

If any of these pillars were to be neglected, gratitude would be breached.”

Chapter “Knowledge Precedes Speech & Action”

Bismillaahi ar-Rahmaan ar-Raheem

as salaamu alaikum,

Just a little taste of how things go when those who are not qualified are over the affairs of others. And although it’s funny, in a way, to watch it is also sad.

How many of us are in charge today and cause such destruction with our hands and tongue?

So let’s think. As a man you may be the driver, the operator, the father, husband, son, step-father, uncle and brother. Let us fear Allah and be mindful of our trust. Let us be mindful that we have the ability to bring benefit as well as harm. Let’s seek nearness to Allah and do our best to protect the Muslims (and non Muslims) from our harm. Don’t give your good deeds away.

Let’s make du’aa for our brother hoping in return that Allah will have mercy on us and protect us from brining ourselves and our family towards destruction. Let’s focus on ourselves and our families first, the women and children under our care.

Let’s forgive and move on seeking the face of Allah, The Tremendous. The glorious return for the believers is only to Him, The Perfect. Why dwell on the past? But seek forgives from your Glorious Lord, give thanks, move on and prepare for your meeting with The Inheritor, Allah.

(They say): “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” 3:8

85 – “O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the Earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing such upon another Muslim.”

88 – “O Ever Living, O Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, by Your mercy I seek assistance, rectify for me all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for the blink of an eye.”

Mothering And Fathering

Mothering And Fathering MP3 Art

I recall when some brothers came to Philly from Delaware and said that they had a da’wah center and wanted to do an event there. The day for the event came so I drove down with my audio equipment to a recreation center that had very good room for seating.

I didn’t really know Sheikh Taalib Abdullah (may Allah preserve him and his family) at the time of this event. And as is the case when you work an event you’re very busy focusing on your job so you are not always listening to the speakers when they are on the Mic. After this talk it was clear to me that Taalib Abdullah was a father and a husband and that he was speaking from experience.

I’ve been trying to keep a relationship to him ever since then. Listen to this talk and you will understand why.

Righteous parents are the keys to a righteous child by the will of Allah. Let’s choose righteousness.

Please remember our Muslim youth. Especially those who are fatherless. Share this lecture with them may Allah bless you and us with mercy and guidance.
